Arising Fear - Beyond Betrayal
Self-Released, 2014
1. Mantic Shape
2. Beyond The Walls Of Anger
3. Deadly Embrace
4. Day To Overcome
5. Losing Sanity
6. Final Redemption
7. This Burden
8. Come Alive Again
9. Thrashing Brain Surgery
10. Meltdown Rust
This is the debut full length CD from Germany's modern thrashers Arising Fear. I do feel that the word thrash is a bit of a misnomer here. There is definitely some thrash and some groove mixed in here and yeah they put the tag modern on there, but this is less thrash and definitely more of the modern sound of music, aka more post-thrash and a bit of core, not really my kind of tea.
There is some good moments in the music which I really like such as Mantic Shape and Deadly Embrace and maybe one or two others, and there is enough thrashy groove on here to make it worth checking out for me, but overall I just can't fully invest myself in it, so from this point forward I will just talk about the rest of the package instead.
Musically it's good for what it is and the production is definitely good, especially considering it is a self-financed project. I am sure that they will do just fine for themselves as this style of music is still very much en vogue.
